One Night In... Boise
I've always believed that every where has something incredible to explore or experience. I've been excited to start my "One Night In..." series. What this series will showcase is that no matter where you are, there is something neat to see or do. Even if you only have one night in that location, you can find something awesome!
This first entry will be One Night In Boise! Boise is a pretty cool town! Home of Boise State University, there is always a lively attitude in the air. If you only have 1 night in Boise, I recommend heading downtown. Plenty of choices for food and drink, art by local artists, and the Idaho State Capitol Building.
Boise State University is home to the Broncos and the infamous "Smurf Turf." The football field is a bright blue with orange end zones. Because the field is AstroTurf, it is always these vibrant colors. If you have a few minutes to run over to the Hall of Fame building on the corner of the field, you can see it for yourself! (It'd be even cooler to catch a game, so check the schedule before you arrive.)
Starting out in the afternoon, head down towards the capitol building. You can take a free tour inside the building where you will get to know some of the history of the Boise area and the state of Idaho. Take a moment afterwards and wander the grounds. They are very well kept and a quiet place to relax on the grass for a little while.
A short walk from the capitol building, you can find the Freak Alley Gallery This outdoor gallery is the largest in the northwest, and features art submissions from local artists. It is never the same gallery twice, and it is constantly changing. So even if you have been there before, be sure to pay it another visit!
By the time you finish exploring Freak Alley, it'll probably be time for happy hour, or maybe some dinner. I would still recommend staying downtown for dinner. There are so many delicious choices, but here are a few of my favorites.
10 Barrel Brewing
Press and Pony
Bittercreek Alehouse
If you happen to be in Boise in the summer months, I would STRONGLY recommend going to float the Boise River. It is a 2-3 hour float, and it is incredibly relaxing and fun to ride the gentle waves of the river, laughing with friends, and sipping your beer. You can drive up to the launch site, or you can take an Uber or Lyft. At the end of the float, there is a bus that will bring you back to the launch site if you need a ride back. Boise River and Raft have tubes available to rent. I recommend the Deluxe tube unless you have a bunch of people going together. Take something to tie you together, but its a ton of fun to go and enjoy the 3 hours unplugged, floating on the cool river, enjoying the sunshine.
I hope you enjoy your 1 night in Boise, Idaho! I know I always enjoy my short visits here. Safe Travels!!

These are western U.S. scones, not the kind that are like British scones. They are more like an Indian fry bread. They are so yummy!
